Not Going Anywhere

May 7, 2020

A social-distancing project by Trevor Brady shot in Vancouver during March – May 2020.

“Self-isolation, self-quarantine, social-isolation, and now I think we have settled on physical-distancing. However, I prefer the term social-distancing.

This portrait project is a document of people staying at home, slowing down, figuring out how to use their time and flattening the desire to socialize. We all know this feeling, and in time, we will go back to some sort of normal, and these memories will become a distant past. My hope is that these photographs will remind us of how fragile our ecosystem is, yet many people will likely not want to remember.

The people I have photographed are captive subjects in the city of Vancouver. Some I have photographed in the past, some are friends, and some people I have never met before. When contacting these people, it was quite easy to arrange a time to photograph them, as many of them replied, “I’m not going anywhere.”

Thank you to all captured, for this moment in time.”
