Youth

February 27, 2025

“End of summer 2024, beginning of September, a period a little out of time, the end of the summer parenthesis. I’ve always found this temporality interesting: the mind often sails into the past, while the body must move forward, gradually regaining its relationship with everyday life.

I directed my gaze towards a certain youthfulness to capture glances, attitudes and gestures, deliberately targeting a well-defined geographical area, the outskirts of Bastille and République, to try and sketch out a visual typology.

It is the observer’s gaze that will project a frictional value onto these images, reconstructing reality through narration. These images paint a melancholy portrait of the city, and the narrative, which veers between fiction and documentary, questions the relationships between individuals and their relationship to urbanity. Through these representations of young people, I’ve tried to capture the ambiguity of these territories, at once spaces of solitude and places where encounters are always possible.”
